A “large number” of Frankie & Benny’s outlets “won’t return after lockdown”, reports claim. According to an e-mail seen by the BBC, The Restaurant Group (TRG) plans to break this news to staff today.

It is believed employees will be told that sites are “no longer viable to trade and will remain closed permanently”. The e-mail, which was allegedly sent to managers in the group’s Leisure Division, adds: "The Covid-19 crisis has significantly impacted our ability to trade profitably, so we've taken the tough decision to close these restaurants now." BBC contacted TRG for comment but were still awaiting a response at the time of publication.
