Frank Lampard has been forced to play down comparisons between misfiring striker Timo Werner and former Chelsea flop Fernando Torres.
Both forwards arrived at Stamford Bridge for a similar fee, with Torres coming from Liverpool back in 2011 for £50million. The Spaniard had been a huge hit at Anfield, but never reproduced the same form in a blue shirt during his four-and-a-half year stay.
Despite his troubles, Torres still added the Champions League and Europa League to his list of achievements but his period at the club seemed to be one of constant struggle in front of goal.
Werner is now suffering the same problems, having netted just once in his last 15 matches for Chelsea, but Lampard backed his No.9 to find his goalscoring form. "Al
