Joseph Robinette Biden Jr. (born November 20, 1942) is an American politician who served as the 47th vice president of the United States from 2009 to 2017 and represented Delaware in the U.S. Senate from 1973 to 2009. A member of the Democratic Party, Biden is the presumptive Democratic nominee for president in the 2020 election. He unsuccessfully sought the Democratic presidential nomination in 1988 and in 2008.

Tara Reade, who worked as a staff assistant in Biden's Senate office from December 1992 to August 1993, has accused Biden of pinning her against a wall in 1993, reaching under her skirt and pushing his fingers inside her.
Giving an interview to US media while self isolating at home, presidential hopeful Biden addressed the claims publicly for the first time. "No, it is not true," he told MSNBC. "I'm saying unequivocally it never, never happened." Ms Reade was one of eight women who last year came forward to say Democrat Biden had hugged, kissed or touched them in ways that made them uncomfortable, though none accused him of sexual assault.
