Federico Macheda will always hold a small part of Manchester United folklore – even if the Italian striker never realised his full potential at Old Trafford.
It’s almost 11 years since the youth graduate came off the bench to score a dramatic, memorable and season-defining winner against Aston Villa.
Of course, that was a result that played a huge part in United lifting the Premier League title that campaign – and Macheda was very much the teenager of the hour.
Loan spells at Sampdoria, QPR and Doncaster Rovers followed – among others – before he headed to Cardiff City on a permanent deal in 2014.
