swept in over the weekend bringing torrential rain and strong winds across the North West. Sunday saw consistently heavy downpours with a Met Office yellow warning for rain being put in place at midnight.That expires at 8am this morning with some dry spells expected after a sodden start to the day.However flood alerts remain in place in certain parts of the region with more rain forecast for Monday evening and into the early hours of Tuesday.One alert has been issued for the Lower Irwell catchment area in Salford and north Manchester.It says: "We believe there is a possibility of flooding for low lying land and roads around the Rivers Irk and Medlock, Wince and Worsley Brooks and their tributaries.
