They were downgraded to ‘inadequate’ by watchdog the Care Quality Commission in May, after inspectors found patients were at ‘high risk of avoidable harm’ during busy periods.
Speaking in Parliament earlier this year, Hazel Grove MP William Wragg called for a ‘radical long term solution’ to tackling A&E waiting times at the hospital, after it emerged 200 people spent more than 12 hours waiting for a ward bed last December.
