FA chairman Greg Clarke has resigned. Clarke was under mounting pressure to quit after being forced to apologise for a racist slur while giving evidence to the Digital, Culture, Media and Sport Committee on Tuesday.
He also came under fire for sexist remarks about girls’ football, describing being gay as making a “life choice” and “stereotyping” Asians for working in the Football Association's IT department.
Clarke said sorry when quizzed by MPs and the FA later issued an apology on his behalf. But amid fury from numerous groups and within the FA itself, he has been forced to quit.
