The Met Office has issued an amber alert for rain alongside several yellow weather warnings for rain, wind and snow around parts of the UK over the New Year period.
The warnings come after a period of mostly dry but foggy weather over Christmas, which saw some areas of the country record their mildest start to Christmas on record.
But the weather is set to change as we welcome the new year this week. A yellow warning for wind and snow is in place across much of Scotland throughout today (30 December) until tomorrow evening.
An amber warning for rain will come into effect at midnight tonight, lasting until 5pm on Tuesday. Then, from tomorrow morning (Tuesday) at 5am and lasting all day, there is a snow warning in Orkney and the Shetland islands, as well as the wind and snow warning across Scotland.
