More snow, ice and rain weather warnings in place for Greater Manchester as Met Office issue severe alerts

More snow, ice and rain warnings have been put in place across Greater Manchester by the Met Office. Forecasters have issued multiple severe alerts for the region and other parts of the UK for Monday (January 6).

Heavy snow already fell across Greater Manchester on Sunday (January 5) as the region was covered by two severe weather warnings.

Two Met Office amber snow warnings were put in place throughout Sunday, after coming into force on Saturday. An amber snow and ice warning was in force from 6pm on Saturday (January 4) until 12pm on Sunday (January 5), with a second in place until 11.59pm on Sunday, covering the northern stretches of Greater Manchester and much of northern England.

In a new update, Met Office forecasters revealed a snow and ice yellow warning was to be put in place from midnight on Monday until 12pm, with a further rain warning in place until 6am.
