A 24-hour Met Office weather warning is now in force for Greater Manchester - with Storm Eowyn expected to batter the UK today (Friday, January 24).

The yellow weather warning for wind is in force from midnight until 11.59pm - with winds of more than 50mph forecast in the region.

The warning covers the entire UK, with an amber warning also coming into force for areas of Greater Manchester between 6am and 9pm.

Other areas of the UK, including Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland, are subject to a red weather warning, with serious disruption expected and an emergency alert sent to millions of people.
