Chris Willman Music WriterAfter a spate of bad publicity over winning a Goliath-versus-David lawsuit, Eric Clapton’s management has announced it does not intend to collect the money owed by a German woman who was sued for putting a bootleg CD of a 1980s Clapton concert up for sale on eBay.The woman had been ordered to pay approximately $4,000 after a judge ruled she had infringed Clapton’s copyright by trying to sell the more than 30-year-old CD, which her late husband had purchased at a department store, for 9.95 euros, or roughly $11.20.

Eric Clapton’s management has issued a statement after the guitarist successfully sued a German woman last week for trying to sell a bootleg CD of one of his concerts on eBay.As reported by DW, the defendant claimed she was unaware that she was committing copyright infringement by listing the album on the site for €9.95 (£8.45).Clapton sent Düsseldorf regional court an affidavit stating that the recordings on the disc were illegal, which led to to the court’s initial decision in favour of the singer-songwriter.The woman appealed, claiming that her late husband had purchased the CD in 1987 at a well-known department store.

Eric Clapton has announced the imminent release of a new single titled ‘Heart Of A Child’, which he co-wrote with fellow vaccine skeptic Robin Monotti.The single is due for release this Friday (December 24) via Bushbranch / Surfdog Records, and will mark Clapton’s second new track for the year after ‘This Has Gotta Stop’ landed back in August.
