Elvis Presley refused to have sex with his wife Priscilla who said that on their wedding day she was a virgin despite telling him "please don't make me beg".Presley married his long-time girlfriend on May 1, 1967, at the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas.
The wedding, arranged by The King's manager Colonel Tom Parker, was followed by a press conference and a $10,000 (£8,000) breakfast reception, attended by friends, family and business associates from Elvis' film and record companies MGM, RCA and the William Morris Agency.The newly married couple boarded a private jet and had a honeymoon in Palm Springs, California, until May 4 – and reportedly finally had sex for the first time.
The couple had been together for around seven years since Priscilla was just 14. She had been sharing his bed but there have been claims Elvis never wanted to marry her.According to the biography Down at the End of Lonely Street: The Life and Death of Elvis Presley by Peter Harry Brown and Pat H Broeske, Alberta Holman, a housekeeper who had been with the Presley family for many years, said she found him crying about the upcoming wedding.She asked why he didn't just cancel it and he apparently replied: "I don't have a choice." Other claims suggested Priscilla had pressured Elvis into marriage.
