El Chapo was 'sex addict' who ordered 'viagra and sex workers' from his prison cell

El Chapo slept with women whenever he wanted, ordered in drugs including viagra, and had female inmates raped from inside his prison cell, a new book claims.The top criminal – once renowned as one of the most powerful men in the drug trade – even competed with fellow drug trafficker Hector Luis Palma Salazar to see who could last the longest during sex and have the most sexual partners.

New investigations from journalist Anabel Hernandez in the book Emma and the Other Narco Women also say El Chapo would order food from the finest restaurants to his cell.She wrote: “During his years at Puente Grande prison, El Chapo was a drug and sex addict."(He) brought in prostitutes from outside, and when that was not possible they paid nurses, cleaners and cooks who worked in the penal system.”The journalist says El Chapo had several lovers, including a 23-year-old serving time for robbery who he got pregnant before forcing her to have an abortion.Another female prisoner, who had refused his advances, was brutally beaten and raped, according to the book.He was able to enjoy his lavish lifestyle because of regular cash payments from other drug dealers and the bribing of prison guards, Hernandez writes.The powerful kingpin started his life of crime as early as the 1970s, as a driver for drug trafficker Miguel Angel Felix Gallardo.He worked his way up to become an international criminal running an industry worth eye-watering amounts of money.For all the latest news from the Daily Star, sign up for one of our free newsletters here.But El Chapo, whose real name is Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera, was jailed in 1993 over the death of a Catholic bishop who was gunned down during an altercation between rival drug traffickers.
