Edinburgh Castle 'seized' by protesters as police rush to scene

Edinburgh Castle has been “seized” by protesters as multiple police vehicles and officers rushed to the scene and evacuated visitors.

A group of roughly 30 people gathered there around 5.45pm on Tuesday August 17 in what they have described as a “peaceful” protest.

According to Edinburgh Live, they are understood to be near the entrance to the Museum of The Royal Regiment for Scotland. Emergency services remain at the castle as a video, seen by Edinburgh Live, has emerged of one of the woman demonstrating.In it, she says: "we have seized Edinburgh Castle.”The woman adds: "We're waiting to restore the rule of law.
