Manchester City as the goalkeeper intends to spend the best years of his career at the Etihad. The 26-year-old is currently under contract until 2025, having signed a seven-year deal before his first season at the club was complete.
That contract extension was in recognition of the way he had transformed the team and English football under Pep Guardiola, with his style forcing teams to change the way they thought about the goalkeeping role.
City are unsure if they will be playing Champions League football for the next two seasons, with the Court of Arbitration for Sport set to announce in July whether UEFA's ban should be overturned or not.
