EastEnders legend Shaun Williamson says he was happiest when he worked as a postman. The actor, 54, was one of TV’s biggest stars when he played Barry Evans in the 90s.

But he said: “If I wasn’t an actor, I’d probably still be a postman. “I was young and the early starts meant we’d have early finishes, so I’d spend my afternoons with my friends at the pub. “It was great.

I’ve done all sorts of things – I was in the Navy, I was a Club 18-30 rep. I’ve taught children in American summer camps, I’ve worked in warehouses, I was a foreman at a supermarket.

I’ve been a barman, a singer… the list goes on.” It’s been 16 years since Shaun left Walford but he is still popular with viewers.
