Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has lost an appeal against four single mothers, in a victory for more than 85,000 Universal Credit claimants.
The four working mums won a High Court challenge against the Secretary of State for Work and Pensions (SSWP) in January last year and said the shifting payments had left them struggling financially, resulting in them falling into debt and forced to rely on food banks.The SSWP brought an appeal against the High Court's decision, but it was rejected by the Court of Appeal in a ruling on Monday.
