Cold Weather Payments will be paid out to all 88 postcode areas of Greater Manchester. The Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) has confirmed that temperatures across all 10 boroughs were cold enough during the recent icy blast that those who qualify will now receive the cash.
Payments for most of the region were triggered on Saturday, January 12, with more areas then triggered on Sunday, January 13.
Cold Weather Payments see qualifying households receive £25 when temperatures fall below 0C for seven consecutive days. To qualify for the money, you need to be in receipt of certain benefits, including pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance (JSA), income-related Employment and Support Allowance (ESA), Universal Credit, and Support for Mortgage Interest.
In total more than 600 postcodes across England, Wales and Northern Ireland have now been triggered since January 2. People in Scotland do not qualify for Cold Weather Payments.
