Dramatic moment teenager arrested after police chase on wrong side of East Lancs Road

This is the moment a teenager was caught after leading police on a high-speed car chase on the wrong side of the road. Police began following Marshall Taylor in a blue Nissan Juke just after 9am on May 20 after suspecting the vehicle had cloned registration plates.

The 19-year-old failed to stop for officers and went on to drive at high speed down the wrong side of the East Lancashire Road from Haydock towards St Helens. READ MORE: Oasis ballot ticket sale LIVE as extra Wembley dates go on Ticketmaster Bodycam footage showed police chasing Taylor before finally arresting him when they carried out a tactical stop of the vehicle at the junction with Carr Mill Road in Billinge.

Taylor was apprehended while attempting to escape the scene. No injuries were reported. The teenager, from Bank Street, Newton-le-Willows, was arrested and later admitted to dangerous driving, driving without insurance and without a licence.

He was sentenced to 30 months in prison on September 13, the Liverpool Echo reports. Inspector Phil McManus, from the Matrix Roads Policing Unit, said: "The actions of this driver on that day driving at speed and on the wrong side of the road with no regard for other motorists - could clearly have had serious or even fatal consequences.
