Dr Michael Mosley, who went missing after a hike on a family holiday to Greece, has tragically been confirmed dead by his wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley, as well as Greek police.
His body, with an umbrella close by, was discovered in a rocky area beside Agia Marina on Symi on Sunday 9 June after an extensive search operation led by emergency workers, around 30 minutes walk from the village of Pedi where Mosley was last seen.The 67-year-old TV personality was with friends at Agios Nikolaos beach on Wednesday 5 June, before going alone for a walk to the centre of the island.The body was discovered around mid-morning on Sunday beneath a fence that runs around a bar on Agia Marina beach, which is surrounded by hilly, rocky terrain.
The body found during the search was removed from Symi island on a boat. Five firefighters left the island with the body on a stretcher at around 2.45pm local time, having arrived 35 minutes earlier.
Michael's wife Dr Clare Bailey Mosley confirmed the heartbreaking news that her husband has been found dead, adding that the news was “devastating” and that her family had been "hugely comforted" by the support that they'd received over the past days. "I don’t know quite where to begin with this.
