President Donald Trump has been accused of branding US war dead from WW1 'suckers and losers'. A report in The Atlantic claims the Republican refused to visit the Aisne-Marne American Cemetery in France after referring to the Marines buried there as 'losers'.

It is also claimed he called Marines who were killed in the 1918 Battle of Belleau Wood 'suckers' for dying. The article said he called off the cemetery trip in November 2018 because he feared the rain would ruin his hair.

However, Mr Trump has denied the claims, describing them as 'a total lie'. Mr Trump's alleged comments were apparently overheard by four senior officials, with one source saying the president 'didn't see the heroism in fighting'.
