Dillian Whyte is set to pocket even less than first predicted from his fight with Tyson Fury on Saturday night, with the final purses now confirmed.
Whyte fell to defeat in front of 94,000 people at Wembley Stadium following a sixth-round knockout from fellow Brit Fury. The Body Snatcher held his own throughout, but a brutal uppercut from the Gypsy King proved all too much for Whyte, who despite getting back to his feet was unable to continue.
The 34-year-old had already been given a back-seat spot in the fight after it was confirmed the purse would be split 80/20 in Fury’s favour. However, in the aftermath it seems Whyte’s payout has been shrunken further, after it was confirmed it would in fact be an 82/18 share following Fury’s sixth-round victory. The undisputed WBC heavyweight champion was tipped to take home a cool £23million in earnings, but this has since been increased after receiving an extra £3.2million as a winning bonus.
On the other side of the split, Whyte receives just £5.8million in comparison.Even before his two percent cut, Whyte had already slammed the purse split revealing to TalkSport last week that the arrangement was ‘manipulated’ and ‘forced’ on him.
