husband stayed with his wife's dead body for days in a forest. Michael Winter and his wife Angela Winter, both 56, made a campsite in the woods in Staffordshire after they lost their jobs and home during the Covid pandemic.

Mr Winter saw his wife for the last when she stormed off after an argument and said she couldn't cope with living in a tent anymore. In a hope she would return, Mr Winter remained at the campsite but after several days he started looking for her.Eventually he found his partner dead near a children's park on June 29 2021, reports StaffordshireLive.Mr Winter was left shocked and devastated and tried to commit suicide. He wrapped his wife in the tent so nearby children playing wouldn't see her body and he stayed by her side for three days.A few days later he walked to a nearby police station to report his wife's death. The inquest on February 15 into her death was held by South Staffordshire assistant coroner Daniel Howe. The hearing was told Mr Winter was arrested on suspicion of murder. He was later cleared of the charges after the results of a post-mortem examination as police pieced together the tragic story.A toxicology revealed Mrs Winter had clonazepam, paracetamol and atolin in her system, which when combined may have led to fatal toxicity.Dr Alexander Kolar, who carried out the post-mortem, said: "There was quite significant decomposition and she had been dead for a number of days."There were no restraints and no evidence of injury."The toxicology report revealed combined clonazepam, paracetamol and atolin.

But we don't know the full extent of any other drugs as we did not test for them."In her lungs we also found widespread pneumonia.
