Diggers have moved in with the former Belle Vue Stadium and Showcase cinema both in the process of being pulled down. The former dog track on Kirkanshulme Lane, which was the first purpose-built greyhound racing stadium when it opened 1926, is to be replaced by 167 houses and 80 apartments.

Whilst a new 1,200 place high school is to be built on the old cinema site, with the first pupils already having their places confirmed.
