A deaf woman has felt like 'walking out' of her job after facing complaints from mask wearing customers she cannot understand.
Melanie Muir, from the Meadows, Nottingham, works as a customer assistant at the Tesco Express in Castle Boulevard. The 47-year-old has been completely deaf since she was a baby and relies solely on lipreading to communicate, Nottingham Post reported.
Since people began wearing masks due to the coronavirus pandemic she has found understanding customers increasingly difficult.
Melanie does wear a cochlear implant which helps her to recognise sounds like a phone ringing, the door knocking or a dog barking.
