Daniel Wroughton Craig (born 2 March 1968) is an English actor. After training at the National Youth Theatre and graduating from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 1991, Craig began his career on stage. He made his film debut in the drama The Power of One (1992) and attracted attention with appearances in the historical television war drama Sharpe's Eagle (1993), the family film A Kid in King Arthur's Court (1995), the television serial drama Our Friends in the North (1996), the biographical film Elizabeth (1998), the television film Love Is the Devil: Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon (1998), the indie war film The Trench (1999), the drama film Some Voices (2000), the action film Lara Croft: Tomb Raider (2001), the crime thriller film Road to Perdition (2002), the crime thriller film Layer Cake (2004), and the historical drama film Munich (2005).

Daniel Craig has opened up about his latest encounter with the Queen, admitting she dropped a joke at his expense.The Hollywood star shared the insight that happened when he was awarded the Order of Saint Michael and Saint George by the monarch.The honour was confirmed in the New Year’s list as many were thrilled to see him receive the same title as his on-screen counterpart.Usually, the award is only given to diplomats and spies and is one that James Bond himself has.Opening up about receiving it during a recent interview, Daniel shared how he found out.Speaking on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert yesterday he said: “You get an enquiry about someone wanting to call you on a personal number.“And you’re like, ‘Well, who’s that?’ and they say, ‘We won’t say’.“Then you give out your number and then the ambassador to the United States called me up and said, ‘We’d like to offer it to you.’“And I said, ‘Can I have 24 hours to think about it?’ I don’t know why I said that but I thought it sounded adult.”When chatting about the honour, he also revealed what the Queen was like when they met.When asked about this by Stephen Colbert, he said she is “very funny”.Daniel added: "Very funny, wants to crack a joke, and crack a joke about me."“We were having our photograph taken, and she just went, 'Oh no, he's the one that doesn't smile.' Fair enough!"In the same chat, Daniel also opened up about working with the Queen’s corgis in the past.He appeared with them in a segment back during the 2012 London Olympics open ceremony.Daniel admitted they were very “friendly” when he worked with him at the time.The Bond star has recently signed up to play Macbeth on Broadway.The Hollywood star has been cast in Shakespeare’s play alongside Ruth.
