Chester in 1968, Daniel grew up in Hoylake, Wirral, before acquiring a catalogue of credits and accolades to his name. He attended Hilbre High School and was a keen sportsman, playing rugby for his school and for Hoylake RUFC. From there he went on to National Theatre Studio, where he met his current wife Rachel Weisz. According to MyLondon, they were both performing in the same play - Les Grandes Horizontales.

But it was nearly 20 years later, on the set of the 2011 thriller, Dream House, that their paths crossed again and they found love.

Rachel wasn’t keen on marriage at first but the actress told The Standard in 2018, Daniel had turned her beliefs upside down and changed her mind.
