Daniel met his first wife, Scottish actress Fiona Loudon, during his time at the National Youth Theatre in London. The two had a whirlwind romance and ended up having a child together when Daniel was just 23 - their daughter Ella is now 29.
The pair got married in the same year they met in 1992, but split up after two years. According to the Mirror, Daniel admitted that the pair were, in hindsight, “too young” to get married - but they remain amicable.
Daniel also described parenthood as “the most wonderful thing that’ll ever happen to you. ” Ella is now an actress herself.
