The Chelsea Arts Club is a private members club that can only be joined via application.Like many other exclusive venues, many people are unable to join because your application needs to be supported by a recommendation from existing members.Non-members are allowed to visit but this is only possible if they are invited by a member. If you reside within 30 miles of Charing Cross and your application is successful, an annual membership will set you back £650.

The club was founded in 1890 and caters to the members who have a "passionate belief in the importance of a creative approach to life".Two thirds of the members have to be practising artists, according the the official website, which is defined as those who are painters, sculptors, designers, photographers, architects, as well as writers, dancers or musicians.Daily Star has contacted Dame Joan's rep for comment.
