Dad with 'awful' driving record who tried to flee from police jailed

A man who drove at speeds of up to 70mph to evade pursuing police before trying to run away has been jailed for his 'appalling driving record'.

Garreth Robinson, 35, appeared at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court following the chase which ended when his vehicle hit a kerb on Southmoor Road, Wythenshawe on Sunday night.

Self-employed joiner Robinson, of Falcon Drive, Irlam, pleaded guilty to failing to stop for police, failing to provide a specimen of breath when suspected of drink driving, driving with no insurance, without due care and attention and driving while disqualified.
