A father and daughter who died after a huge wave knocked them off a harbour wall and swept them into the rough sea have been named.
Matthew Philip Smith, 47, and Bonnie Marie Smith, 26, were winched from the water during a massive rescue effort at Mullion Cove on the Lizard peninsula in Cornwall on November 2.
However, the tragic pair, who were from Abbeydale in Gloucestershire, could not be saved, Cornwall Live reported. The father and daughter were visiting the beauty spot in South West England just three days before the country entered its second national Covid-19 lockdown.
Witnesses described sea conditions as savage, saying waves were crashing over the harbour wall and that the water inside the harbour itself was “boiling”.
