Bruno Fernandes

Bruno Miguel Borges Fernandes (born 8 September 1994) is a Portuguese footballer who plays for Primeira Liga club Sporting CP and the Portugal national team as a midfielder. Fernandes started his career at Serie B side Novara Calcio and soon featured for Udinese and Sampdoria in Serie A.

In 2017, he signed with Sporting CP where he established himself as one of the best players in the Primeira Liga. He was named the LPFP Primeira Liga Player of the Year in both 2017–18 and 2018–19. In the latter season, he also helped Sporting win the Taça de Portugal. A senior international since 2017, Fernandes represented Portugal at the 2016 Summer Olympics and 2018 FIFA World Cup.

Bruno Fernandes offers verdict on penalty controversy after Man Utd win

Manchester United star Bruno Fernandes believes he got a touch on the ball in the incident which led to referee David Coote reversing his decision to award West Brom a penalty.After a lacklustre first half at Old Trafford, the match sparked into life a minute into the second half when Fernandes was adjudged to have brought down Conor Gallagher in the penalty area.But after Coote was asked to look at the challenge on the pitchside monitor by VAR, he overturned his decision, deeming Fernandes got a faint touch on the ball.To compound matters, Fernandes then had a penalty of his own saved by former United keeper Sam Johnstone but scored on his second attempt after the Baggies ace had come off his line for the initial effort.The 1-0 win lifts.
