Covid-19 is spreading rapidly across the Scottish islands of Orkney, a health board has warned. NHS Orkney said it's taking the situation “extremely seriously” after a 'significant number' of positive cases in the islands.
The health board believes several islanders have travelled around the islands, and the Scottish mainland, despite showing symptoms.
Michael Dickson, NHS Orkney chief executive, warned anyone displaying telltale signs of the virus to self-isolate for at least ten days and try to get tested.
The new cases in Orkney come after last week's local lockdown in Aberdeen, which is connected to the islands by ferry, following the detection of a cluster of cases.
