Councillors approve plans for new electricity substation in heart of Highland Perthshire

Highland Perthshire have been unanimously approved by councillors. The substation will support the Beauly to Denny power line.Councillors met virtually at a special meeting on Monday, August 30 to scrutinise the application.Scottish Hydro Electric Transmission submitted plans to erect a substation on land between Aberfeldy and Tummel Bridge.A report put before councillors said it was needed to “establish an enhanced, high voltage energy transmission network” as Scotland’s use of renewable energy increases.Due to the “national” category of the proposal, it required to go before the full council.The power lines connecting to the sub-station, a new tower and replacement tower are being determined in a separate application by the Scottish.
