Video from inside the Puente Alto prison in the province of Cordillera in central Chile captures the moment inmates protest and push bunk beds to one side.
Another angle shows some of them throwing objects out of their windows. The prisoners cover their faces with towels after they allegedly start a fire in the cell.
According to local media, there are more than 1,000 inmates being locked up in the prison and one of them showed symptoms of having coronavirus before testing positive for the disease.
