McDonald’s has announced it is giving all emergency service staff and care workers free drinks as a thank you for their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

The major fast food chain has said it wants to thank, reward and support staff with free hot or cold drinks in its drive-thrus if they show their work pass.

A spokesman said: "We want to use our UK and Ireland footprint to thank, reward and support the health and care workers doing an incredible job in difficult and unprecedented times.
