ITV bosses have announced they have taken the decision to axe production of Coronation Street and Emmerdale due to the coronavirus outbreak.
COVID-19 has been declared a pandemic worldwide, with cases in the UK currently soaring. The news of Corrie being put on hold comes after the BBC decided to cut EastEnders weekly programming in half, going from four episodes a week to just two.
A statement from the BBC read: "In light of the spread of COVID-19, after much consideration, it has been decided that filming on EastEnders will be postponed until further notice. "The decision was made after the latest government update.
