Corona beer production halted after coronavirus pandemic grips the world

The production of Corona beer has been halted while the coronavirus pandemic takes its toll on the world. Rumours the deadly pandemic had prompted a 40% fall in the sales of the popular beer appear to have been nothing more than an urban legend.

Nevertheless, the makers of the popular Mexican beer brand announced that they are suspending production. Grupo Modelo, who also make Pacifico and Modelo beers, say the shutdown is in response to a Mexican government guideline that only essential business such as farming should operate until April 30 at the earliest. "We are in the process of lowering production at our plants to the bare minimum," the company announced, adding it would halt production altogether in the next few days.
