A Church of England cleric yesterday branded the national clapping commemoration for Captain Sir Tom Moore a "cult of white British nationalism." The Reverend Jarel Robinson-Brown made the comments on social media after many in the nation took part in the event to mark Captain Moore's death.
The clapping event was urged by Boris Johnson who asked people to show their appreciation for Captain Tom, who died on Tuesday at the age of 100.
In a tweet, which has since been deleted, he said: "The cult of Captain Tom is a cult of White British Nationalism. "I will offer prayers for the repose of his kind and generous soul, but I will not be joining the 'National Clap'." What do you think about this story?
