The limit on contactless card payments has increased from £45 to £100 from today and means shoppers across the UK will only be required to enter their PIN code to pay for purchases if they exceed that amount.
The limit change was put in place to encourage people to spend more in shops now that restrictions are no longer in place which in turn will help boost the economy.
However, consumers should be aware that some shops might take longer to introduce the new limit, because they need to update their terminals.
And for anyone worried about the potential risk of fraud if their card is lost or stolen, they may be able to set their own contactless payment limit - but it depends on who they bank with.
