The cheapest supermarket in the UK has been revealed, after a study compared stores including Aldi, Tesco, Sainsbury's, and Waitrose to find out which store is the most budget-friendly.The research, conducted by Which?, looked at which store was the cheapest when purchasing a basket of 23 essential items.
Which? compared own-brand items including apples and eggs, as well as popular brands such as Hovis, in order to find out which retailer really was the best value for money.
The average price for each item at every supermarket was worked out across the month, and then added together to get an average total cost for each store.
