Charli XCX has been cast in The Gallerist, an upcoming film by Cathy Yan (Birds of Prey).As reported by Deadline, the ‘Brat’ singer has joined the star-studded cast alongside Jenna Ortega, Natalie Portman, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Sterling K.
Brown, Zach Galifianakis, Daniel Brühl and Catherine Zeta-Jones.The film follows a desperate gallerist who conspires to sell a dead body at Art Basel Miami, and is currently in pre-production and set to shoot at the end of this year.It follows last month’s news that XCX had joined the cast of Sacrifice, the English-language debut of French director Romain Gavras.
She will star alongside Anya Taylor-Joy (Furiosa), Chris Evans (Avengers: Endgame), Vincent Cassel (Black Swan) and Ambika Mod (One Day).Details of the artist’s role in the film, which was reportedly undergoing filming in Greece and Bulgaria last month, have not been confirmed.
Of the other supporting cast members that were announced, one is Swedish rapper Yung Lean, who will be making his film debut – and was a collaborator with XCX alongside Robyn on the remix of her song ‘360’.XCX now has seven screen projects on the way, including Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex and graphic novel adaptation 100 Nights Of Hero, which is led by Emma Corrin (Deadpool & Wolverine) and Maika Monroe (Longlegs).This follows her stint pulling double duty on performing and hosting Saturday Night Live in November, where not only did she perform tracks from her most recent album, but also earned praise from fans for her on-screen ability and comic timing after delivering an Adele impression in a skit.Her culture-dominating sixth record ‘Brat’ was released in June and has been named as the Album of the Year by NME.
