The government today announced a change to the rules on 30 hours' free nursery placements for people who've lost pay due to coronavirus.

Parents whose working hours or pay dropped because of the pandemic will now continue to be eligible for 30 hours' free childcare per week, up to October 31.

Previously, eligibility had been extended to the end of the summer term 2020. Today's announcement means it has now been extended for a second time.

But today's announcement only covers people who still have a job, and are on fewer hours or less pay due to the virus. It does not cover parents who have lost their job altogether due to Covid-19.
