Police have launched a CCTV appeal after a woman had her handbag stolen at Mackie Mayor food hall. GMP have released a picture of a man they would like to speak to in connection with the investigation.

It shows what officers described as a man 'with distinctive clothing and a walking stick'. The theft took place at the Northern Quarter venue just before 2pm on Saturday, February 1.

In an appeal on Facebook GMP City Centre said: "At around 1.56pm on Saturday, February 1, the victim reported that she had her handbag stolen in a food hall on Eagle Street in Manchester city centre.

When she went to leave, she could not find her bag. CCTV from the store showed an offender taking the handbag." Anyone who witnessed the theft or recognises the man pictured is asked to call 101 quoting crime reference CRI/06A2/0002810/25.
