Castle Douglas community pantry holds Christmas party after extremely busy festive season

Stepping Stones Community Larder in Castle Douglas celebrated an extremely busy festive season with a cracking Christmas party in its St Andrew’s Street hub on Saturday.

The social brought together staff, volunteers and community for the social which was made possible by kind donations from local people and businesses.

Everyone enjoyed the beautiful buffet while manager Leanne Latta and her team were kept busy restocking shelves for the final run up to Christmas.

Demand has grown since 97-year-old Jeanie Moore cut the ribbon on the facility back in August. According to Leanne, 24 families and 45 single people are now members of the social enterprise, which provides a basket of food items for a small charge as well as free fruit and vegetables.
