Castle Douglas Legion raised the fantastic sum of £7,048.55 for the annual poppy appeal this year. President Ian Mather and poppy convener Steven Dill would like to thank everyone in Castle Douglas for their amazing support as well as Tesco and all the businesses who allowed them to place collection tins.

Thanks also to volunteers. The branch has two new standard bearers – Betti and Megan Ginnelly – who did Castle Douglas Legion proud on Armistice Day.

They gave up their own time to go on the standard bearer’s course which was held in Glasgow and did exceptionally well. They were invited to represent Castle Douglas Legion at the opening of the poppy garden of remembrance in Glasgow’s George Square in October.

Well done Megan and Betti. Castle Douglas Legion will hold their AGM at 7pm on Thursday, January 4 in the Legion clubroom. Members welcome.
