Italian restaurant chain Carluccio's is to permanently close its Spinningfields restaurant. Its other two Manchester sites, at Piccadilly train station and the Trafford Centre, have been saved along with 29 other branches nationwide after being bought by food industry tycoon Ranjit Sing Boparan.
But 40 more restaurants across the country will not reopen again after lockdown is lifted, including the large Hardman Street site in the city centre.
Carluccio's collapsed into administration in March, blaming a 'sustained period of challenging trading conditions, which have been exacerbated by COVID-19'.
It put 2,000 jobs at risk - 800 of which have reportedly been rescued by the acquisition. All Carluccio's restaurants are currently closed
