Turnberry Holiday Park claim Park Holidays, who took over the site in April from previous owners Bridge Leisure, want them to fork out thousands of pounds for new holiday homes or be away by December 31.
Many elderly caravan owners are said to have used the park for years, buying mainly for the ‘no age limit’ perk. Mary Miller, who has been on the park for six years, organised a meeting in Girvan on Sunday for caravanners affected to discuss their options and try find a solution.
She told Ayrshire Live: “We have a number of 80-year-olds who have been given a letter from Park Holidays basically saying ‘upgrade or move off the park, and we’ll charge you for that’.“These people are mostly in their 80s and they bought their caravans many years.
