Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford (born 31 October 1997) is an English professional footballer who plays as a forward for Premier League club Manchester United and the England national team.

A Manchester United player from the age of seven, he scored two goals on both his first-team debut against Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League in February 2016 and his Premier League debut against Arsenal three days later.

He also scored in his first Manchester derby match, his first EFL Cup match and his first UEFA Champions League match. With United, Rashford has so far won the FA Cup, EFL Cup, FA Community Shield and UEFA Europa League.

Calls for Marcus Rashford to be knighted after Man Utd star secures meal scheme extension

There are growing calls for Marcus Rashford to be knighted after the Manchester United star's campaign led to the Government extending its free school meals scheme into the summer.

The 22-year-old penned a letter to MPs on Monday but his calls for a reversal to the decision not to provide meals into the summer was rejected by the Department of Education.

However, Rashford insisted "we aren’t beaten yet" and continued to urge the those in power to "find their humanity". And his perseverance paid off, as the Government announced on Tuesday afternoon the £120million 'Covid Summer Food Fund' to feed 1.3million children per week.
