Calls for Lowland League to be suspended amid Covid lockdown as Juniors put their campaign on hold

Dalbeattie Star have written to league chiefs asking for the campaign - which is approaching the half way stage - to be shelved until the spike in the virus is under control.

One other unnamed club has also voiced concern and the request is to be discussed at a board meeting planned for Monday. It follows decisions by the East and North Region Junior Leagues to call a halt temporarily to their seasons.

The two junior associations have suspended all games, training and friendlies until February 6 while the South of Scotland League - tier 6 of the pyramid - will hold an EGM next week over closing down “until the Dumfries and Galloway Authority area is removed from the current "Lockdown" restrictions”.
